Just been looking at your blog, it's lovely. When I was in secondary school,I did sewing and loved it. I hardly sew at all now preferring knitting or mainly crochet. I've lost count of the patterns and material I've bought but never used. At school I made a skirt, dress and a top. For the last yrs I choose soft furnishings and made curtains and a bed spread - basically a giant pillow case for my open sleeping bag to go in over my bed. Like a modern day quilt. We had to produce a very interesting folder, mine was very thick, stuffed with info and magazine clippings on every subject related to sewing. Memories. It doesn't matter how long it takes to make it as long as you enjoy the process, sometimes it's impossible to stick to the CAL time frame, I know what you mean about knitting groups I never get much done when I go to any of mine I think there's more chatter than actual work being done but it's great getting together with people that share your passion. Her Coastal Blanket was another one inspired by an area, this time at the Dorset coast.<br />From a crochet course I was on, we had a selection of colours issued and I choose to crochet my Coastal Cushion. I haven't done much crocheting in recent months, but recently got going again. When I've finished I would like to crochet something that uses many colours rather than just three or four. People would want to browse through and then I couldn't get any sewing done. At the moment we have a massive big hole with a supporting lintel in place and the opening sides fire boarded in. It's interesting what you said about the yarn, when I was looking back at Lucy's archives, it was quite a while before she took to using Stylecraft. Don't worry about the time frames. I've never done a CAL myself because I've always been worried that I wouldn't be able to keep up, but I really should try it someday working at my own pace. You are up in the sky, nearly done! I quite enjoy sewing ends in, particularly with a good audiobook to listen to. I have a made a couple of Lucy's blankets, her patterns are well written aren't they. She has been using pegs with wool wrapped around, too. I am not very fond of Stylecraft Special DK (don't like to touch it) but it is useful for blankets as it washes really well. The kids like it. For my own personal blankets, I use Drops Karisma but the colour range is not as impressive as the Stylecraft one. Have fun with the last few rows. xChristinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11883091348839145603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8400625799900292836.post-299295397714246512017-10-10T14:28:00.974-07:002017-10-10T14:28:00.974-07:00Thanks Jo, I've enjoyed crocheting this blanke...Thanks Jo, I've enjoyed crocheting this blanket very much. I can imagine all the upheaval you'll have with the work you're having done but I'm sure it will all be worth it when you're cosily crocheting in those fireside chairs. I started a CAL a very long time ago and it's still sitting there unfinished, I really must get back to it again soon. As for sewing in the ends as you go along, I stopped doing that after I went wrong and found out how hard it is to take back crochet when the ends are no more. It'll be a big job at the end but at least I know I can take it back if I need to.Johttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17436932004631816039noreply@blogger.com
